Las Positas College Foundation History and Goals
The Las Positas College Foundation was founded in January, 2003 by a dedicated group of Tri-Valley community leaders. The specific goals of the LPC Foundation are two-fold:
- To promote Las Positas College to the Tri-Valley community
- To encourage residents to invest in the future of THEIR great asset: Las Positas College
In March 2004, the citizens of the Chabot-Las Positas Community College District approved funding to expand the physical facilities of LPC. Nearly $220 million in construction projects – planned over the next ten years – will make it possible to eventually accommodate more than 16,000 students. This is almost twice the size of the current student population.
As the Measure “B” Bond Program transforms voter financial support into the reality of impressive new buildings on our campus, it is equally important to invest in the heart and spirit of those facilities. Beautiful new buildings alone, while necessary, are only part of the educational equation.
From drama, dance and forensics to student scholarships and staff professional development, myriad aspects of a full, meaningful and attainable college experience have, in this era of diminished public support, become considered almost “extras.” However, these essentials are the reasons for the buildings and the purpose of the College.
Investments in the Las Positas College Foundation ensure that our Tri-Valley region will continue to be enriched and served by LPC – an institution of high standards and dedication to students.
